beauty in nature is fleeting. on a visit to the botanical
gardens in sydney, i was struck by the intensity of wildflowers in full bloom;
weeks later they were cut down, their destruction as dramatic as their arrival.
that briefness stayed with me. in this artwork, i wanted to embody that tension;
the moment when something beautiful reveals its fragility, and that fragility
becomes its curse. in the studio, i think about how we respond to beauty
socially: how easily we’re seduced by it, how it fades as we age, and how my
own understanding of beauty continues to alter over time.
